Goodletite: Gemstone Information

The name goodletite is a commercial name for attractive ornamental boulder material showing red, blue and green from corundum varieties and green tourmaline. These minerals are embedded in a fine-grained mica and  tourmaline matrix which occurs in the alluvial gold deposits of Westland district, South Island, New Zealand. Cabochon materials are usually found to be composites. Some specimens have a goodletite centre with top and bottom of colourless quartz. Various unhelpful names have been used.
